Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What clothing and equipment do you recommend for skiing and/or snowboarding?
A: Click here to visit our clothing and equipment recommendation page.
Q: How old should my child be before they take ski/snowboard lessons?
A: We have ski lessons for children 4 and over. Snowboarding lessons are for age 7 and over.
Q: Do you provide adult skiing/snowboarding lessons?
A: Yes, we offer excellent adult skiing/snowboarding lessons for all skill levels. If you’ve never skied, haven’t skied in years, or want to advance to the next level- Cascade Ski School has a class for you!
Q: Should we pack lunch?
A: You can bring your own food or eat at one of Summit West’s restaurants. There isn’t a lunch room at our building, however the Summit has a seating area that’s within walking distance from our building.
Q: How many students typically are in a lesson?
A: Class size ranges from 4-9 students, depending upon age and ability.
Q: Are there makeup days if my child does not make a lesson?
A: If your child misses a lesson they do not get a “make-up lesson”. However, a cadet can teach your child the material from the missed lesson, often one-on-one, in order to catch the student up.
Q: How will I know if lessons are cancelled?
A: Every lesson day, a voice recording is left on 253-564-1245. We call it the “lesson status line.” It is updated by 6:30 a.m. and the message will state “yes, we’re running” or “no, we’re not running.” Lessons may be cancelled due to extreme weather, road conditions, power outages, etc.
Q: Do you take President’s Weekend off?
A: Yes, since many of our students and families plan a ski vacation during this holiday.
Q: What happens when lessons are postponed or canceled?
A: Since all instruction is reserved for the entire season, there are no refunds or make-up lessons if a student misses a class. There may be unforeseen circumstances or conditions which will force the ski school to postpone or cancel a session or sessions. In the event of a postponement, make-up lessons will be scheduled and the ski/snowboard season will automatically be extended until ALL lessons are completed. So, plan for an extended ski/snowboard season if we should get a late start or have any interruptions in our schedule. If we are forced to cancel and the program is not completed, we will refund prorated tuition fees based on the number of weeks ski school operated.
